Monaye's story

Monaye Darke, originally from Chicago, IL, serves as a Director of Dance for Atlanta Public School System, as well as a Fashion, Beauty, and Lifestyle Influencer. Her passion is to serve, educate, and empower people through fashion and performing arts. Monaye intends to be a fitting example poised to simultaneously influence and impact adults, and the next generation of children who may not know what depth of potential lies within them. 

 

Monaye has always been passionate about her appearance; creating a style that displays both her girly and tomboy-ish sides. Moreover, while attending Howard University, she was mostly known for the bundles she often wore as a protective style. A few years after graduating from Howard, Monaye’s mom encouraged her to start her own hair line, in which she created Up Your Slay. Monaye then decided to expand her business to Slay by Monaye to offer more than just hair extensions. She now provides lashes, tape-ins, and wigs in addition to hair extensions and looks forward to adding more products to motivate her customers to continue to slay!
